It is presented annually at the Institute’s Annual Retreat to a graduate of the Nutritional and Metabolic Biology PhD program from the preceding academic year in recognition of outstanding research achievement during their graduate training and the quality of their thesis and thesis defense.  The award includes a monetary component, travel expenses to attend the retreat, and the opportunity to present a short talk to the retreat audience.
