18th International Magnesium Symposium
Published on 09.15.2026

Dr. Sobolevsky recently had the privilege of attending and speaking at the 18th International Magnesium Symposium (IMS 2026) in Montreal, Canada presenting our work on TRPM7 channel structure-function. The event took place in August 2026, at the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre.
The symposium brought together approximately 100 researchers, physicians, and university professors from around the world, all united by a shared interest in magnesium research. The two-day program was a full immersion into “Magnesium in Health and Disease,” covering topics ranging from molecular mechanisms to clinical applications with the remarkable breadth of the field. Sessions spanned renal magnesium handling, immune system interactions, cardiovascular and metabolic disorders, neuropathology, pregnancy, cognitive function, and frailty. It was a vivid reminder that magnesium is far more than a simple mineral — it is a central player in numerous physiological processes.
